About the Exhibition

The Museum’s Permanent Exhibition

The permanent exhibition of the Red Star Museum explores the history of state socialism in Romania across three levels, from the end of the Second World War to the first months of the transition following the fall of the communist regime. Alongside major historical events, the exhibition focuses on individual experiences, everyday life, and the history of Transylvania and the historical region of Háromszék (now part of Covasna County).

The exhibition combines original artefacts, documents, and personal testimonies with interactive installations, audiovisual materials, virtual reality (VR) experiences, and simulators. Each of the three levels offers a different perspective on the dictatorship, from political persecution and the establishment of communist rule to everyday life under Ceaușescu and the events of December 1989.
